Ebay is one of the largest online retailers. Much of what sells there comes from individuals and various small companies. But taken together a lot of merchandise is sold on eBay. Looking there can be a great start to a search for dirt bikes for sale. When using eBay or any auction site to purchase dirt bikes for sale, or any other product, it’s wise to know the retail price of the items at which you’re looking. It’s very easy to overbid. In fact, many people do that. Some auction sites, including eBay, depend on people overbidding beyond the retail price more than 50% of the time. A quick search on eBay for dirt bikes for sale returns over 7000 results. There’s everything from new to used to all the accessories necessary for ownership. For example one seller has a 2008 Yamaha YZ. This bike retails for around $7,000. But this one was only 100 miles has a current bid of $3900. That’s where a little common sense comes into play. Don’t bid more than $7,000 for an item like this. And generally for something that’s not coming from a dealer, it’s best to try to get it for about half the price. That means it’s probably already over what a wise bidder would offer. A Google search can also find many dirt bikes for sale. Over 378,000 results come up on a search for that phrase. They include some retailers who have dirt bikes for as little as $400. Cheap ones like this are often dirt bikes for kids. It’s a great hobby for young people. If you do find some kid’s dirt bikes for sale keep in mind the need to take care and pay attention to safety. First of all kids should always wear a helmet when riding a dirt bike. Also children should be properly trained in all of the safety measures and riding techniques. Also make sure that they always ride under strict supervision. There are other dirt bikes for sale found on Google. There’s even services and websites that allow people to list used dirt bikes. Of course these include eBay but also many others. There are some free sites were bikes could be sold without paying any type of fee. One benefit of many of these is that they are local to that people can come and look at the bike before purchasing it. Also the transaction can be completed in person. So it’s definitely a good idea to check online for dirt bikes for sale. But look around at local dealers too. If you enjoyed this post, make sure you subscribe to my RSS feed!

Dirt Bikes
December 28th, 2008 — About Dirt
Some people believe that all motorcycles were dirt bikes in the late 1800s. That’s when motorcycles first came into use. There were no paved roads. So by the strictest sense of the phrase, everyone was riding off-road. Early motorcycle races took place on flat oval tracks. But these were not paved. They were covered with cinders or dirt. So in a sense motocross and off road racing were there from the earliest days. Officially dirt bikes began in the United States in 1959. That’s when a man by the name of Honda opened up a tiny bike shop in Los Angeles, California. At that time the reputation of bikers was as outlaws. No self-respecting person would ride a motorcycle. There was no such thing as an off-road bike. Honda came up with an idea. He created an ad campaign based on the phrase ?you meet the nicest people on Honda?. This became well known in the country. The ad campaign included images of smiling ladies and tiny bikes riding along trails. Thus was born the trail bike. Today mini dirt bikes are becoming popular. People love them because they’re small and they cost a fraction of what normal sized bikes cost. They can be found from as little as $850-$1000. Now everyone who has wanted a bike can afford it. These bikes reach speeds of up to 80 miles an hour. That’s not bad. There are a number of different types of activities in which dirt bikes are used. The bikes for each of these is slightly different. One of the most well-known is motocross. This is an off-road race that includes jumps. Motocross bikes don’t carry a lot of fuel. They are not road legal. They have extensive suspensions to accommodate the bumpy courses and the jumps. Engines are generally small. Another type of activity for dirt bikes is Enduro. This is long distance racing through forests or trails. These bikes have a larger fuel capacity than motocross bikes. Track racing bikes are dirt bikes.. Track racing is very high-speed. It takes place on an oval track, generally covered with dirt. These bikes have no breaks. Because the track is smoother than in motocross they also have no suspension. Generally they have two gears. They’re often fueled by methanol. They are definitely not road legal. So next time you think of dirt bikes, you’ll know there’s a lot of variety in the name. Yahama Dirt Bikes
December 27th, 2008 — About Dirt
Yamaha is well known for its motorcycles. The company also makes and markets a complete line of Yamaha dirt bikes. These are also known as off-road bikes. Yamaha makes some of the best.
Motocross is a form of off-road that comes from the French. It is a combination of the words motorcycle and cross-country. Yamaha dirt bikes do well in this area. Motocross was originally a British off-road event called scrambling. Scrambles, as individual events were known, were an evolution from another type of event called trials. The first scramble was in 1924. It grew in popularity in the 1930s. Gradually the bikes used in these competitions changed from practically street bikes to the bikes more similar to the off-road bikes with which we are familiar.
The major difference between a street bike and all terrain or off-road bike is the suspension. Street bikes generally have more rigid frames. They don’t do well off-road, and are very uncomfortable to ride there. Off-road bikes have upgraded suspensions that help absorb the shock. Riding on a dirt track or in the wilderness can be very bumpy.
Yamaha dirt bikes, like other Japanese motorcycles, began to become supreme in the motocross circuit in the late 1960s. Suzuki claimed the first world championship that a Japanese built motorcycle won in 1970.
Both the Grand Prix of motocross and the AMA motocross championship feature many Yamaha dirt bikes. Each of these is a top motocross series. The AMA motocross championship runs from May through September. The Grand Prix is generally held in Europe. But some events take place in Jamaica, South America, South Africa and Japan. Through the years events have been in many other nations including Australia.
The drivers who take part in motocross using Yamaha dirt bikes, amongst other bikes, are very physically fit. When tested compared to other athletes it was found that they could maintain a heart rate of around 190 beats per minute for 35 minutes. They generally do this twice per day. It isn’t easy to maintain control over a 200 or more pound bike while also maintaining top speed for a race.
Yamaha dirt bikes are also used in a relatively new form of motocross called freestyle. These events involve various stunts and maneuvers. It’s very popular with the fans. One professional biker use a ramp to do a backflip over the fountains at Caesars Palace. That’s pretty amazing.
So if you’re considering a dirt bike, or have interests in motocross or off-road, consider the Yamaha dirt bikes.

Dirt Bike Parts
December 26th, 2008 — About Dirt
Many people who ride off-road find it at some time or another their bike is damaged. Then it becomes a matter of trying to find dirt bike parts. There are many places where these can be found.
Keep in mind that it’s often best just to bring the bike in to a mechanic and let them worry about finding the dirt bike parts. But sometimes money can be saved when a person finds those parts himself. But they should also consider the cost of their time.
Some of the dirt bike parts are just small accessories. For example there are traction pads. These are used on the grips of the handlebars to make sure you have a good grip on them. In dirt bike activities, just as like with any motorcycle riding, grip is important. Decent grips can be found for under $10.
Other important dirt bike parts include the helmet. People don’t normally consider the helmet a part of the bike. But for the purposes of safety it really is. Riding any type of motorcycle without a helmet is plain foolish. Helmets can be costly. This could be a matter of hundreds of dollars in expense. But if you ever fall off the bike it’s worth it. Health is important. Avoiding head injuries is invaluable.
When thinking of dirt bike parts people often overlook the kickstand. Think about how important this is. The kickstand protects the bike from damage when it’s stored. Sure the bike can be leaned against the wall, but even that can cause damage to the bike. With a good kickstand only the tires and the kickstand are touching anything.
Other dirt bike parts include the graphics. Many people like to decorate their dirt bike with a variety of different styles. This can be done in a shop professionally, but money can be saved by applying the graphics yourself. There are some graphics for under $100. They often include graphics for the bike as well as the seat. But be careful to make sure that the graphics selected fit in with the overall design of the bike. For example flames when it look good on a red bike. There has to be some contrast.
There are many other dirt bike parts in many places to find them. The Internet is one great way to locate these parts. A Google or Yahoo search can deliver many results. This can be a good starting point for finding parts, or even just getting an idea of the cost in retail price of many of these parts. This information can then be valuable on a trip to the local cycle shop.
The proper dirt bike parts can make a dirt bike.

Dirt Cake
December 26th, 2008 — About Dirt
A dirt cake is a fairly popular dessert treat. It’s often served at parties for children. Kids love it because it resembles dirt. Eating dirt is kind of funny.
When kids eat real dirt instead of a dirt cake it can be cause for alarm. It could be a sign of mental retardation. It’s also dangerous. If there has recently been animal feces in the dirt a child could develop an infestation of parasites. Lead poisoning can also come from eating dirt. It’s normal for children to eat a little bit of dirt. But some children go too far. It could be a result of anemia. That is having an iron efficiency in the blood. In such a case a vitamin or supplement that contains iron will help the child kick the habit.
Dirt cake isn’t really cake. It’s really pudding, cookie crumbs, some type of whipped dessert topping, and a few other simple ingredients. It’s often made in a flower pot. And it can be served with a small shovel to further carry out the pretend game of eating dirt. It can even be topped with gummy worms or candy flowers.
Many recipes for dirt cake can be found online. Perform a Google search. It will result in over 420,000 Web links. Surely you’ll find a recipe you like in all of that. Most of the recipes are fairly similar.
Dirt cake is prepared by crushing sandwich cookies, such as Oreos. There is generally a layer of pudding, followed by a layer of cream, followed by a layer of cookie crumbs, followed by a layer of pudding, etc. The top layer of cookie crumbs is usually added just before serving to maintain the texture of dirt. Overall it’s a very clever desert.
If you’re on a diet get ready to cheat if you’re going to serve or eat dirt cake. It’s a combination of pudding, cookies, dessert topping, and other fattening ingredients. Typically a serving will have over 900 calories, nearly 50 Grams of fat, and nearly 100 Grams of carbohydrates. People who are into reading labels will understand just how bad that is.
Dirt cake can fit in to a well-balanced diet. It’s all about moderation. Eat a very small piece. Or make sure it’s the one food you eat during the week that’s off the diet. Diets are a matter of longer term. If your calories and nutrition are under control on a day to day basis, than once in awhile splurging isn’t out of the question.
Dirt cake is delicious even though it’s not nutritious.

Alice In Chains Dirt
December 25th, 2008 — About Dirt
Alice in Chains is a well-known American grunge band. Their second studio album was called Alice in Chains Dirt. This article goes in depth on that album and the group that produced it.
Before Alice in Chains Dirt the group had to get their start. They began in Seattle, Washington in 1987. It was considered a grunge band but also incorporated heavy metal elements. They rose to fame in the early 1990s with the grunge movement. They sold over 14 million albums in the US in the 1990s. They were number one on the Billboard 200 twice. They had 11 top singles. They were also nominated six times for a Grammy award.
Before producing Alice in Chains Dirt the group was quite prolific. They signed with Columbia records in 1989 and became a top priority for that label. After an early success with their first release in 1990 Columbia rushed their first album into production. Facelift, that album, was released on August 21, 1990. It reached number 42 on the Billboard 200. It sold only 40,000 copies in its first six months. But after MTV featured a single from the album, it sold 400,000 copies in only six weeks. It became both a critical and retail success.
Alice in Chains Dirt deals a great deal with drug abuse and depression. One of the band members had been heavily addicted to various drugs. He had been in rehab. When he came out of rehab he says that he went back to using heroin. There are also claims that some of the band members were high on heroin and marijuana while recording this album.
Much of Alice in Chains Dirt was written while the band was on the road touring. If you’ve ever been involved in a long road tour, you know how difficult that can be. Thus this album was much darker than the previous one. Then members say that the demons they accumulated during the day were worked out when they wrote and played their music.
The album cover for Alice in Chains Dirt was developed by one of the band members. It included his girlfriend on the cover. The band loved the design and immediately agreed that it would be used. The album was completed in June of 1992. It made it as far as number six on the Billboard’s top 200. It vaulted the group to fame. It was certified four times platinum in the United States, platinum in Canada, and gold in the UK.
Alice in Chains Dirt has become part of the history of music. Many people consider it a masterpiece.

Razor Dirt Quad
December 24th, 2008 — About Dirt
Many people enjoy off-road riding. This is often called four wheeling, or off-roading. There are many vehicles available for this hobby. What many people don’t realize is that the same company that makes a Razor Scooter makes a four wheeler called the Razor Dirt Quad.
The Razor Dirt Quad is a miniature electric off-road four wheeler. It features 13 inch genetic tires, heavy rear suspension, and high torque gears. This makes it perfect for off-road activities. People love to race it, or just ride around the countryside. Many people use these just to make short hops around the neighborhood.
The engine is pretty amazing. The Razor Dirt Quad Has a 350 Watt super quiet motor. It’s hard to believe such a quiet engine can deliver so much power. It can even be stored vertically to save space in the garage. The price is only around $330.
Off-road is popular with kids. The Razor Dirt Quad is made for ages eight and up with a maximum weight of 120 pounds. It’s certainly not for adults. Parents should exercise extreme caution when letting their children ride a vehicle like this.
The battery is a 24 Volt lead acid battery system. And actually consists of 212 Volt batteries sealed in a casing. It takes about eight hours to fully charge. It can operate for 60 minutes continuously on a charge. Its maximum speed is 8 mph. It weighs 100 pounds.
It’s always wise to search around for bargains when shopping for something like the Razor Dirt Quad. It sells for only $299.99 at Amazon. Wal-Mart, on the other hand sells it for $349.67. It’s the same thing. Yet there is a $50 difference in price. Who would want to pay $50 more for the same item?
When shopping for a Razor Dirt Quad or any item, it’s a wise idea to use one of the many Internet sites that compares the products of prices at different stores. My Simon is one of these. For this vehicle it shows prices ranging from $300 up to $370. However it shows of the Amazon price at $369.95. That certainly seems out of date.
Yahoo maintains an excellent shopping site as well. It lists the Razor Dirt Quad at the $299.99 price at Amazon. That’s correct. That’s a good deal.
Google has over 55,000 results when you search for Razor Dirt Quad. That’s a lot from which to choose. One of the hits on Google also shows pocket bikes. While these aren’t four wheelers, they are off-road racing motorcycles. They’re much heavier than the Razor. They travel much more quickly too. Some of them have top speeds over 50 mph.
The Razor Dirt Quad is an excellent product. But if you intend to buy one do your homework.

Cheaper Than Dirt
December 23rd, 2008 — About Dirt
When something is really cheap it’s said to be cheaper than dirt. That means not only cheap, but incredibly cheap. Deals like that are hard to find. It’s even cheaper than dirt cheap which is in itself very inexpensive.
Etymology is the study of the origin of words. Words come from many different sources. Many of our words in the English language have roots in the Latin or Greek languages. Sometimes they come from old English or middle English, which themselves derived from the roots of more ancient languages. It’s an interesting study. And one that can be applied to the examination of cheaper than dirt.
Some words or phrases actually reversed in meaning over time. For example, the term girl used to refer to a young child of either gender. Over time it began to be used as a slur, or insult, meaning a man who had not grown up. Then it took on the modern meaning of a young woman. That flip took place in 1530. Its meaning as a term for sweetheart dates back to about 1648. It’s used in the phrase girlfriend after about 1892. The Greek root meant a virgin. Thus the word was originally applied to young people who had not yet been married.
On to the etymology of cheaper than dirt. The expression dates back to ancient times. It denoted something that had no value, and therefore no price. It was used interchangeably with the phrase dirt cheap. Although, according to the words, it would mean something even cheaper. It came into popular use in the 1860s when it replaced the term dog cheap.
In history sometimes even dirt isn’t cheaper than dirt. For example in Haiti dirt is so valuable that Haitians will cross into the Dominican Republic to steal topsoil. And it was well known that Hitler stole train loads of Ukrainian black dirt. He used this to improve gardens in Germany. That was because he knew more food would be needed to feed the people.
If you ever need to purchase soil, you know it isn’t really cheaper than dirt. In fact soil can be quite expensive. Some companies have taken advantage of the name to denote that they offer bargain prices for soil and other gardening products. These are companies like The Dirt Cheap Mulch Company. It even has its own website.
Next time you hear the phrase cheaper than dirt you’ll have some idea what it means.

Dirt Dessert Recipe
December 23rd, 2008 — About Dirt
Sometimes parents were having parties for their children seek out a dirt dessert recipe. No they aren’t serving dirt to the kids. They’re generally serving pudding layered between crushed cookies. Many of these recipes can be found online or in cook books for children.
Most kids can handle making a dirt dessert recipe. They’re pretty simple. They involve steps such as crushing cookies, mixing powdered pudding, and mixing whipped topping with cream cheese and maybe some flour. Not only do kids enjoy eating this, they enjoy making it. They will also get a sense of pride when other people enjoy it too.
So what is a good dirt dessert recipe? A website for great party recipes calls it charming. It’s often served in a flower pot or children’s pail. It involves crushing cookies, such as Oreo cookies, and layering a cream cheese pudding mixture with the cookies. Normally a final layer is added just before serving. This ensures that it has the consistency of real dirt. Some people will even add candy flowers or gummy worms. That makes it look even more like dirt. It can be served with a small shovel.
Almost every dirt dessert recipe calls for crushing the cookies in some sort of bag. Consider that crushing the cookies just sitting on the counter would make a huge mess. It’s also sometimes hard to stop eating the cookies when you’re supposed to be crushing them. It’s not uncommon to end up with not enough cookies to make a proper amount of fake soil for the desert. The recommendation is to purchase an extra bag of cookies so that people can munch them while making this delicious recipe.
Don’t expect a dirt dessert recipe to fit into your diet. There are often nearly 1000 calories per serving, as well as 50 grams of fat in 100 grams of carbohydrates. As far as dieting is concerned that’s a deadly combination.
Yahoo search can be used to find a dirt dessert recipe. Yahoo returns over 1,700,000 websites for that search term. One of the links from Yahoo goes into a recipe that has a pretty unique ingredient. It’s Fresca soda. The Fresca is added to the pudding. In most other respects it’s identical to other recipes for this fun dessert.
If your child eats regular dirt instead of the results of a dirt dessert recipe, they may have a problem. It’s usually easy to stop dirt eating by using behavior modification techniques. Talk to a pediatrician if you have a problem.
If you didn’t know a good dirt dessert recipe before reading this, now you know.

Joe Dirt is a comedy film made in 2001. It stars David Spade, Dennis Miller, and Christopher Walken. Spade plays the lead role. David Spade also wrote the movie.
Joe Dirt wasn’t much of a success with the critics. It has an average rating of three out of 10 and one of the well-known multiple review sites. Roger Ebert and his partner Richard Roeper both gave the movie a resounding thumbs down. They called it strained and predictable and said the storyline was absurd. However, they did complement Spade’s performance.
Even though the critics didn’t like it in earned $27 million in the United States. That means Joe Dirt was profitable. Its budget was only $16 million. It also made it to number one in New Zealand. But David Spade joked that New Zealand is only the size of Kmart. Dennis Miller has a radio show where he frequently talks about the movie. He’s even interviewed David Spade about it.
Strange character Joe Dirt works as a janitor at a Los Angeles radio station. A producer sees Joe being bullied in the hall and decides that his white trash attitude could become popular. As a result he puts Joe on the air to be interviewed by a disc jockey. Most of the movie consists of Joe relating his life in this interview.
The story of Joe Dirt begins with the pursuit of his love interest Brandy. When Brandy’s dog dies Joe feels the need to seek out his parents. He travels the country. He has many strange adventures. He also meets a number of odd characters. He also takes on many odd jobs. The last of these is his job in the boiler room of the radio station.
Eventually Joe Dirt gives up a search and returns to Brandy. He finds out that she knows that his parents were killed while he was visiting the Grand Canyon. His whole search has been in vain.
Joe Dirt doesn’t realize that the listeners love him. He’s become a media sensation. A woman claiming to be his mother calls him. It turns out it’s all a scam. She’s trying to sell figurines using his name. They really are his parents, but they’ve only contacted him to make money.
At the end of the movie Joe Dirt tries to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge. He’s saved by a bungee cord. But he hits his head on the way back up. He later wakes up and Brandy’s house surrounded by many of the people he’s met on his journey. He realizes that these are his family members. That’s pretty silly. No wonder critics didn’t like the movie.
Joe Dirt is proof that Hollywood is desperate for good movies.

Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
December 21st, 2008 — About Dirt
What’s the Nitty-Gritty Dirt Band? Country and folk music in America are still very popular. They’ve been around for a long time. Many big time groups went on long tours. Many lesser known groups still do quite well. Here’s information on one of them.
The Nitty-Gritty Dirt Band had its start in California in 1966. The band has gone through a lot of musicians. Two have always remained. Their names are Jeff Hanna and Jimmy Fadden. They originally created the band in an effort to not have to work for a living.
The Nitty-Gritty Dirt Band began as a jug band. Early jug bands were jazz bands who added the jug into which someone would blow as a novelty. In Memphis jug bands were more about the blues. They used washboards for percussion. One famous jug band often appeared in the TV series The Andy Griffith Show. They were portrayed as hillbillies who first had a run in with Ernest T. Bass. Andy would generally perform with them playing his guitar.
The first single for the Nitty-Gritty Dirt Band was Buy for Me the Rain. It was a top 40 hit. It was even performed at concerts with people such as Jack Benny and the Doors. There couldn’t be any more different performers.
In 1968 the Nitty-Gritty Dirt Band had appeared in movies and as an extra act at concerts. They appeared in one of the worst musicals ever made ? Paint Your Wagon. They even opened for Bill Cosby at Carnegie Hall. They joined a jam session with the great Dizzy Gillespie.
In the 1970s they went country. They went to Nashville, Tennessee where they had some success including two Grammy nominations. They had a tour in Japan. They headlined in front of 350,000 people at the Ozark Music Festival.
The Nitty-Gritty Dirt Band kind of disappeared, but popped up now and then. They performed on Saturday Night Live and returned to Nashville to record other songs and albums. They won two Grammy awards and one of their works was named album of the year.

Electric Dirt Bike
December 20th, 2008 — About Dirt
Many people are thinking about alternative energy. They look at gasoline powered cars and think about ways to not only protect the environment but to quiet down the roadways. An electric dirt bike can accomplish this.
One company that produces these is Zero Motorcycles. Their electric dirt bike is quiet, and performs well. As of August of 2008 they were already back ordered. Of course only 45 had been produced by that time. Their goal is to produce 2000 in 2009. They will also introduce an electric street bike.
An electric dirt bike is ideal for people who want to ride off-road in barren areas near cities. This could include wilderness trails in suburban developments. Normal bikes would draw the anger of neighbors. They’re very loud. But the electric version hums along quietly. That’s why it’s becoming popular.
One issue with an electric dirt bike is the price. They’re generally more expensive than comparable gasoline powered dirt bikes. They also have limited range. This is about 40 miles per charge. That turns out to be about two hours of use on the trail. One problem with this is people like to ride for an entire day. They won’t find a socket out in the wild.
Some veteran off-road riders see the electric dirt bike as a novelty. They don’t think it will last. One rider, also an editor of a motorcycle magazine, said ?this is a good second bike, but not something most enthusiasts would want to own as an only bike.? But other people call them sexy and fun.
The founder of zero said he became interested in building an electric dirt bike in about 2002. He was formerly an aerospace engineer, but later became a motorcycle designer. He disagreed with people who think electric cycles are slow and boring. He dislikes off-the-shelf parts so many of the parts on his bikes are custom designed.
The big problem with an electric dirt bike is the battery. Lithium ion batteries can last a long time but they’re hard to cool. Zero had to develop a quick cooling material to surround the batteries. The pack that they came up with costs nearly $4,000 to replace. It lasts for six years. The battery takes about two hours to fully recharge. That’s not bad. The motor has 23 hp and can go from zero to 30 in under two seconds. Zero says that experienced riders are blown away by the performance.
Speaking of costs, the zero is about $7,000, this electric dirt bike also costs $300 to ship. They’re only sold online. The overall goal for the company is to become big.
Expect to see an electric dirt bike very soon somewhere in your town.

Dirt Cake Recipe
December 19th, 2008 — About Dirt
When people have children and they want to make a tasty dessert treat they often turn to a good dirt cake recipe. This type of cake has elements that resemble dirt and sometimes mud. This can include crushed Oreo cookies, pudding or other ingredients. There are many sources for good recipes online.
The Disney family website has an excellent dirt cake recipe. It mentions it as a conversation piece. As well adults like it as much as kids do. It’s baked in a flower pot. This recipe includes vanilla pudding and chocolate sandwich cookies with cream filling. The cake involves layers of the pudding and whipped topping alternating with layers of cookies. It’s the cookies that give it the dirt look.
There’s nothing in a good dirt cake recipe that has anything to do with good nutrition. Of course it’s like cookies and cake can be eaten in moderation as part of a healthy diet. A typical recipe might include nearly 1000 calories per serving. If that’s not bad enough it could also have as much as 50 to 60 grams of fat in 100 grams of carbohydrates. Eat too much of that in even the best diet will be broken. Kids usually aren’t dieting.
To find a dirt cake recipe you can search on Google. It has over 236,000 entries for that phrase. One such involves a popular brand name cookie. It’s recommended for a summer party for kids. Dirt Cheap Airfare
December 19th, 2008 — About Dirt
In this age of high travel costs people are constantly in search of dirt cheap airfare. It’s important to try to save money when you have to make a trip, whether you’re going on personal travel or for business. Read on for some tips and tricks on how to cut your airfare costs.
The rising price of fuel in mid-2008 prompted many airlines to begin charging for things that used to be free. For example, some airlines began charging for a second checked in bag. A few even charged for even one check in item. Many instituted extra charges for window and isle seats. This made it ever more important to find a dirt cheap airfare in the first place. Then once all these charges were added, at least it wasn’t breaking the bank.
It is still possible to find a dirt cheap airfare. But consider that even after oil prices fell 50%, meaning the price of fuel fell as well, airlines did not end all of these extra charges. Once a company or industry makes consumers accustomed to a certain type of charge or fee it’s very unlikely that they’ll ever remove it. That’s simply the nature of business.
So we know why all of these extra travel costs have been added. We know there are ways to find a dirt cheap airfare. But how? As with many things, the Internet steps in to help. There are many travel sites where flights from many different airlines can be searched and compared. These will often result in finding the best or lowest airfare.
Don’t overlook the airline websites when searching for a dirt cheap airfare. There are often specials and discounts on these sites that won’t be found in the travel sites. It’s wise to use these in addition to the travel sites. Become a member of each one, and make sure to sign up for their frequent flyer programs as well.
Many people make the mistake of only flying with one airline. They think that’s the way to a dirt cheap airfare. It’s not. Yes there are perks, but they come at the expense of giving up comparison on about 95% of your flights. But some people enjoy the special status given to frequent fliers. In that case stick with one airline.
One other tip for a dirt cheap airfare is to avoid those auction sites. A vast majority of people who use them end up paying more than the fare they would receive simply by booking through the airline directly.
The dirt cheap airfare is out there. Shop around to find it.
